As an immigrant myself, and as someone who has left their home country at the age of 35, the pursuit of being and feeling at 'home' has been on my mind for as long as I can remember.
I believe it's not just my experience but the experience of others, especially those who have moved countries at an older age (25+), after growing up and deeply absorbing their home culture, creating lasting connections, etc...
I would love to explore and tackle the big question of what makes a place 'home', from the perspective of immigrants.
I would like to interview people who have moved from different countries to Australia, at an older age (25+), to understand more about their experience, what makes them feel at home, what they miss about their home country the most, what have they pursued - activities, books, food, rituals, connections, gatherings, ceremonies, etc. to feel more at home,...
The interview will be audio only, followed by taking a photo of them, possibly with their family, preferably at their own home, or if that's not convenient or possible, at a public place of their choosing.
The aim is for these audio interviews to be transcribed into text and along with the photo(s) taken to be made into blog articles and possibly a book.
