As I've recently moved to Barcelona, Spain, and in pursuit of finding a long-term apartment and a place to call home, I moved to an area named 'Viladecans'.
There are multiple stories about the reason behind the name; one of them is that, in Catalan, the name means 'Vila' (town) De (Of) Cans (Dogs), and it was named that way because it was an area famous for having a lot of dogs.
This is possibly a myth according to many who live here, but I chose this to be the inspiration for this project. Yet, the suburb is truly filled with beautiful dogs everywhere.
As a dog lover, I find dogs truly unique, emotionally intelligent, and carrying far more life wisdom than we give them credit for.
For this project, my aim is to explore the relationship the inhabitants of Viladecans have with their dogs, as well as exploring what it means to live in this beautiful suburb.
Hence the title 'Cans De Viladecans'.
